Que Passa biography

When the guitarist and composer Jarosław Dzień established Que Passa in 1997, the objective was to combine most valuable achievements of non-classical music. Hence Que Passa is the fusion of harmonic flamenco, Latino American rhythms and the feeling of improvised music. A proper choice of musicians was most important for such ambitious venture. That is why the instrumentalists cooperating with Jarek are the graduates of Music Academies. In the beginning as a trio: Jarosław Dzień - guitar, Marcin Gałażyn - accordion, Grzegorz Panasiuk "Banan" - guitar, Sławek Pogoda - guitar. Today Que passa is a superb quintet : Jarosław Dzień - acoustic and flamenco guitar, Marcin Hilarowicz - acoustic guitar, Jakub Mietła - accordion, Łukasz Adamczyk - bass guitar, Mirosław Hady - cajón, The repertoire of Que passa is mainly Jarek's compositions. Thanks to excellent skills the ensamble performs also compositions of such Jazz Masters as Chick Corea, John McLaughlin or Al di Meola. The group have been awarded on many contests (Jazz Juniors '99), recorded for TVN television, played the support concert before Rafael Cortez and Fish (Marillion) and played on Music Fair in Frankfurt (Musikmesse 2003) invited by German company Pro Arte. Cooperation with such musicians like Paweł Mąciwoda (Scorpions) - bass guitar, Marcin Gałażyn (Motion Trio) - accordion, Sławomir Berny (Grzegorz Turnau; Marek Grechuta), Tomas Sanchez (Justyna Steczkowska; Raz, Dwa, Trzy), Marek Rajs (Jose Torres) - percussions, Janek Kubek - cajón, tabla, should be sufficient recommendation.
